Art Sherwyn’s most recent body of work fuses vibrant color palettes with his deep love for storytelling. Inspired by the revitalization of Bakersfield’s urban core, Sherwyn spent months walking the streets with his sketchpad, searching for fresh compositions. These initial drawings became the seeds of larger works—small color studies in the studio transformed into bold, expressive paintings.
Sherwyn intentionally distorts scale and perspective, challenging viewers to see the familiar in new ways. Each piece is built on a foundation of deliberate structure—but once the composition is in place, intuition takes over, guiding color, shape, and rhythm in a spontaneous dialogue between artist and canvas.
