Quaking Aspen Art Retreat June 13, 14 & 15th
With Art Sherwyn
Join us for three days of peace, beauty, serenity, and camaraderie, combined with color, stroke, and composition. Located in picturesque Quaking Aspen in the Southern Sequoias, between Kernville and Camp Nelson, this retreat is designed for the outdoor art enthusiast; enjoy three days/two nights of camping, surrounded by breathtaking, and awe inspiring views, while applying art theory, concepts, and techniques. We will be tent camping at a group campsite located on the edge of a lush meadow, yards away from the Tule River. A gifted camp chef will prepare our meals, an expert in the flora and fauna will share his knowledge, and the evenings will find us sitting around a campfire drumming and strumming, and sharing in some great dialogue.
This retreat is designed for all levels of artist from the beginner to the advanced; most of the lessons can be adapted to all levels of experience. Through a well-designed learning sequence we will explore the creative process, seeking pathways into merging technique, creativity and individual style. From stroke production to composition, from the art of seeing, to the development of personal style, you will participate in some unique, yet easy to understand and apply methods for developing proficiency in those areas. We will use a variety of mediums, including graphite, conte’, ink, pastel, and acrylic. Those interested in watercolors or oils are welcome to use them as well. Anyone taking part in this retreat should be able to hike up to one mile into a remote spot with a small art set-up, and must also adapt well to outdoor weather changes. This retreat will truly be a life enhancing experience!
