Landscapes

Mother Nature has always been a great inspiration for me spiritually. When I am among the tall trees, the quiet meadows, the vast deserts and the powerful oceans, my entire soul becomes enlarged. My posture grows, my smile lengthens, and eyes widen. Everything about me grows. Painting the landscape, and sharing it with the public is my way of paying back.        I feel that the real truth behind painting landscapes lies in painting on location. Only then will the artist be able to sense the unfeigned energy and character of the place. I especially enjoy painting at the height of the seasons. If you only paint between sixty-five and seventy-five degrees, all your paintings will look like sixty-five to seventy-five degrees. When I am in the snow, I paint like the cold. When it is windy, my hand moves like the wind. When it is hazy, my hand strokes with the haze. Large rocks in the ocean are painted with large powerful strokes, while tall grass blowing in the wind is painted with delicate free flowing strokes. The paintings that I am sharing on this web site are a small representation of my work. If you are interested in seeing additional paintings, you may contact me by e-mail with your request. I have recently been painting in some incredible places including Kings Canyon, Highway 1 between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay, Moss Landing, Elkhorn Sloughs, and the Central Coast. I will post some of these works on the website next month.
