The doorway series was painted in Cambria, California. I was intrigued by shapes of figures being framed by a doorway. Usually the figure were of men as they were waiting for their wives to finish their shopping. In many of the doorway paintings it was my goal to guide the viewers eye beyond the main figures, giving the paintings a sense of place and time.
